The Limerick Writers’ Centre announce Dublin launch of “1916-2016: An Anthology of Reactions”
Following the recent very successful launch of Capital Limerick, a group of professional business people formed to promote and advocate their home-place in Limerick, another Limerick group flies the flag for Limerick in the Capital. Limerick Writers’ Centre hope to see some of the group who attended that launch, attend their event this week in Dublin.
Historian Dr. John O’Callaghan said at the Limerick launch, “this book will itself be an important historical document to record the reaction to the rising one hundred years after it took place”

This anthology is part of the Limerick Ireland 2016 Committee of Limerick City and County Council year of events that feed into the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme. It is a book
of historical and literary reaction, a compilation of articles, essays, poems, stories and illustrations from writers and artists of varying opinion and hue. The book attempts to bring the
reader on a journey that begins before the Rising, the events during Easter week and its aftermath.The anthology is edited by John Liddy and Dominic Taylor and published by the
Limerick Writers’ Centre.
Special guest speaker will be Tim Pat Coogan. Tim Pat Coogan is an author, broadcaster and former editor of The Irish Press. He has written several books, including the definitive work,The IRA; Ireland since the Rising; On the Blanket; Wherever Green is Worn and the major biographies Michael Collins and De Valera. In 2015 he published 1916, The Mornings After. His new book, The 12 Apostles was published recently.
