Mike Fitzpatrick - Bid Director
Artist, Curator and Academic, Head of School of Limerick School of Art and Design, LIT since 2009. Director of Ireland’s first National City of Culture in Limerick 2014. Commissioner of Ireland’s Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2015 and 2007. Passionate interest in creating change through cultural transformation and an avid fan of the ancient game of hurling.
Sheila Deegan - DEPUTY DIRECTOR & ARTS AND CULTURE OFFICER
Sheila has been involved in the development of the arts and culture infrastructure of Limerick for many years, and as well as being Arts Officer was part of the team that gained and delivered the first National City of Culture : Limerick 2014. She is passionate about Limerick and all that the Arts and Culture can do in creating a civic society. She is an avid reader of all things literature, and is a social media enthusiast, especially of Twitter!
Nadia Carboni - International Advisor
PhD in Political Science, MA in Business Administration, she is currently Adjunct Professor at the School of Economics, Management and Statistics of the University of Bologna and Researcher at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). She has been recently involved in managing Ravenna’s bid for the 2019 European Capital of Culture.
Mary Conlon - Cultural Programmer
Founder and Co-Director of Ormston House, member of the board of directors of EVA International, Ireland’s Biennial and a Partner of Visual Artists Ireland. She sits on the Migrant Exploitation Steering Group at Doras Luimní, a non-profit NGO working to support migrants rights. She is a Shinnors Scholar and currently completing a practice-led PhD in Curatorial Studies at Limerick School of Art & Design.
Jürgen Simpson - Cultural Programmer
Composer, performer and academic. His work is performed internationally and spans the area of dance, electronic music, film, opera and installation art. Winner of numerous awards. He is the director of the Digital Media and Arts Research Centre (DMARC) at the University of Limerick and is the co-founder of Light Moves - Festival of Screendance.
Niamh Bowen - Cultural Programmer
Niamh is a Limerick based social and economic researcher and writer, as well as a facilitator and a theatre practitioner. When she has opportunity she also moonlights as an actor. As a Cultural Programmer, she will bring to the Limerick 2020 table her background in community engagement and the role of theatre in the social context of Limerick.
EDEL RYAN - Bid Team
Edel is a specialist in Social Media and Web Design, bringing to the Bid Team a background and qualifications in Web Authoring, Marketing for Social Media and Administration.
Kathy O’Grady - Bid Team
Having worked as Cultural Programmer for Limerick National City of Culture 2014, Kathy brings extensive Limerick City Council to the Bid Team, as well as the strengths and successes of the 2014 program.
Evelyn Noonan - Bid Team
Evelyn is an experienced Cultural Project Manager and Project Administrator, bringing to the Bid Team invaluable experience, including her work with Royal de Luxe and Limerick City of Culture 2014.
MARTA SŁAWIŃSKA - CULTURAL PROGRAMME ASSISTANT
Researcher, cultural facilitator and curator. She holds BA (Hons) in Creative Design (2010), participated in Vienna Summer School in Urban Studies organised by Vienna University and City University New York (2014) and is in process of completing Masters by Research in the fields of visual culture and cultural geography. Since 2013 she works in Ormston House Cultural Resource Centre and she joined the Limerick 2020 team in February 2016.
Aoife Potter Cogan - Assistant Arts Officer: Festivals & Events
From Cork, Aoife came to Limerick after experiencing the enthusiasm and creativity of LNCoC 2014. She has extensive experience in arts event production, company management, large scale street spectacle, participative public art programmes, strategic planning processes and policy development. Aoife is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Cork Community Art Link and Circus Factory.
Laura Ryan - Marketing and Communications
Limerick born and bred, Laura is an experienced communications and marketing professional dedicated to developing and promoting the Limerick 2020 brand. A former TV journo, she was part of the Limerick National City of Culture 2014 PR team and has promoted many festivals, events and happenings across Limerick. When she’s not proudly flying the Limerick 2020 flag, she can be found running 10k’s with the ‘Leggy Ladies’ around the River Shannon boardwalk.
Paddy Coleman - Financial Advisor
Paddy is key to the Limerick 2020 team, bringing to the table his background as a Chartered Accountant and entrepreneur. He is control-orientated, and importantly, a Munster fan.
Piquant is behind the identity, website, videos, online campaigns and live 3D creative rollouts for Limerick2020. A dynamic agency based in Limerick city Piquant Media has a broad set of skills covering creative and technical fields, specialising in bespoke projects with a strong sense of identity, interaction and reason.
